A frameless direct-drive motor is supplied as a rotor and stator pair with no housing, bearings or shaft. You integrate the rotor onto your own spindle or rotary axis and mount the stator into your structure. This removes the gearbox, belt and coupling from the drive train, which is what gives direct-drive axes their stiffness and zero-backlash positioning.
